Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Forklift Driver to join our team at Pratt Industries. As a key member of our warehouse operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Workplace Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Pratt Industries' safety rules and regulations, and participating in plant safety committees.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs): Follow GMPs at all times to ensure the highest quality products.
  • Quality Control: Identify and prevent poor quality products from leaving the facility by catching defects early in the manufacturing process.
  • Material Handling: Perform a variety of tasks in the assigned department, including moving units and products, and maintaining accurate records for inventory accuracy.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
  • Adherence to Company Policies: Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and good housekeeping.
  • Production Schedule: Adhere to production schedules and be prepared to work overtime as necessary.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in forklift operation and warehouse management is preferred.
  • Skills: Must have the ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, problem-solve, and read and understand tape measures.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience: Experience driving and operating a forklift is required.
  • Substance Abuse Screening: Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
Language Skills
  • English Language: Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Mathematical Skills
  • Tape Measure Reading: Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Calculation: Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
Reasoning Ability
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Concrete Variables: Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills
  • Equipment Design: Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities.
  • Product Layouts: Knowledge of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Quality Standards: Knowledge of quality standards.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Lift Truck Operator License: Will be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
