Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Staff Nurse to join our team at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our young patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized nursing care to patients with complex medical needs, including those with cancer and blood disorders.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in education and training programs to stay up-to-date on the latest treatments and best practices.
Requirements
  • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
  • RN certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology or a related field.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • PALS training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire for infusion clinic; within 6 months for inpatient.
  • APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Status preferred or must be obtained within 120 days of hire.
Working Conditions

Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
