Job Summary:

The Residential Driver is responsible for operating refuse collection vehicles on pre-assigned routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and a focus on ensuring the safe and efficient collection of waste.

Key Responsibilities:

* Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle on designated routes, adhering to Decision Driving principles and time constraints.
* Collect and dump garbage and refuse into refuse trucks, covering a designated residential zone.
* Unload refuse trucks at the landfill, transfer station, or similar facility.
* Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive experience for the general public and customers.
* Ensure garbage and recyclables are properly picked up and transferred, tagging improper refuse containers and waste as needed.
* Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections, completing Safety Lane activity and DVIR in accordance with Waste Pro procedures and D.O.T. guidelines.
* Maintain a clean truck, washing the exterior weekly.

Requirements:

* Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works, with a clean driving record.
* Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
* Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices, as well as Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
* Possess normal hearing and vision, with the ability to manipulate heavy equipment control levers and drive a front-end, side, rear-end, or roll-off loading refuse truck.
* Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, noise, and vibrations.

Physical Demands:

* Physically able to push or pull independently (unassisted) 50 pounds between 800 and 1000 times a day.
* Physically able to lift independently (unassisted) 50 pounds from the ground to waist height between 800 and 1000 times a day.
* Physically able to get up and down from the cab of a commercial motor vehicle between 800 and 1000 times a day.
* Physically able to bend at the waist and knees between 800 and 1000 times a day.
* Physically able to work 8 to 12 hours in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, and snow).
