Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic CT procedures, rotating through diagnostic radiology as assigned, and performing all responsibilities outlined in the CT Technologist (Non-Registered) job description.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials for patient exams, including sterile technique.
  • Performs examinations per Physician's orders and explains procedures to patients.
  • Documents any variations from protocol due to patient's condition or other unknown cause and relays patient history and clinical data to Radiologist.
  • Observes patient and equipment and reports any unusual occurrences or changes.
  • Transports and assists patients as needed.
  • Documents status of patient in reference to radiology/CT procedure on patient's chart.
  • Maintains stock supplies, performs general office duties, responsible for proper film labeling and following prescribed techniques to assure acceptable quality and consistency.
  • Practices safe radiation exposure and protection as well as general safety for patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
  • Complies with policy and procedures for the departmental and hospital-wide programs.
  • Participates in the patient safety training and patient protection, including the needs and methods to report medical/healthcare errors and abuse.
  • Produces diagnostic quality images utilizing CT equipment and effectively judges CT images for proper technique to best demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • Performs diagnostic studies using mobile radiographic equipment in emergency or patient rooms as ordered by physician.
  • Provides care specific to the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • May perform IV insertion/blood draws.
  • Administers IV/Oral/Rectal contrast for CT imaging procedures per radiologist protocol/department manual and ordering physician/care provider order.
  • Utilizes PACS to ensure exams are completed and available for the radiologist to read and for the referring physician/care provider review.
Requirements
  • Certification in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist through the NMTCB.
  • Radiologist Technologist OR Nuclear Medicine license through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners, or applicable state where services will be performed.
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified within 30 days of hire.
