Position Title: Application Testing Specialist

Project Overview: Server Modernization Initiative

Position Summary:

The Server Modernization Initiative aims to transition legacy applications from outdated systems and software (including Microsoft Server 2008 and subsequent versions, IIS, SQL Server, ASP, ASP.Net, etc.) to contemporary Microsoft Servers. This undertaking involves evaluating up to 150 applications to identify necessary modifications for modernization, which may encompass adjustments, re-platforming, redevelopment, or decommissioning. Comprehensive testing of all applications utilizing new technologies is essential prior to the decommissioning of legacy platforms and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the application testing activities for the Server Modernization Initiative, ensuring effective migration of legacy applications to modern Microsoft Servers.
  • Participate in functional and technical discussions to formulate detailed test plans and cases based on both functional and technical specifications.
  • Design, implement, and manage testing strategies for various applications and technologies involved in the initiative.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to ensure all applications are thoroughly tested on new technologies before the legacy platforms are retired.
  • Provide strong leadership and maintain clear communication throughout the testing phase of the project lifecycle.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Senior Application Testing Specialist, with expertise in both manual and automated testing on projects of comparable size and complexity.
  • In-depth experience working within the Agile Framework.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Technologies, including Microsoft Server 2008 and later, IIS, SQL Server, ASP, and ASP.Net.
  • Capability to develop quality test plans and cases derived from functional and technical specifications.
  • Previous experience with BDD scenario testing using SpecFlow (or Cucumber) and Selenium for UI Testing within the specified technical environments is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in functional and technical discussions, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Desirable Skills (Not Mandatory):

  • Experience collaborating with Health and Human Services Agencies.
  • Familiarity with both legacy and modern Microsoft Server environments, including virtualization.
