WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

As a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor at the Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting breastfeeding mothers. Your primary responsibility will be to provide guidance and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding clients, helping them navigate the challenges of breastfeeding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contact women at critical intervals during pregnancy and frequently during the early days of breastfeeding to offer support and guidance.
• Document all contacts with mothers on the peer counselor contact record and maintain a weekly activity report.
• Refer clients to the breastfeeding coordinator or CPA's when necessary, and provide support for special breastfeeding projects.
• Actively promote the peer counselor program with WIC participants and maintain strict confidentiality regarding participant information.
• Be available to mothers beyond usual WIC clinic hours and be prepared to have worked spot checked by the breastfeeding Coordinator at any time.
