Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Media Production Control Manager to join our team at the University of Arizona. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for managing the installation, maintenance, and operation of audiovisual equipment, digital media systems, and broadcast technologies for Arizona Athletics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for home live linear/streaming TV and videoboard events, including working outside in inclement weather conditions, at heights of up to 50 feet, and standing for four or more hours at a time while lifting, holding, and/or carrying 50 lbs. of equipment.
  • Execute multimedia and graphics projects requiring the use of communication and multimedia technology, graphic design concepts and programs, and/or photography and videography.
  • Apply design fundamentals to conceive overall concept, design, look and feel of each project across all related material in print and digital media.
  • Drive vehicles to and from locations to perform job duties (valid driver's license required).
  • Oversee budget and create future budget projection based on Conference Broadcast needs.
  • Manage and direct support for home live linear/streaming TV and videoboard events. Ensure each event is properly staffed using crewing services available per the RFP Award.
  • Provide real-time support for home live linear/streaming TV and videoboard events. Responsible for reviewing the effectiveness of systems and determines remedies.
  • Coordinate outside vendor support when needed. Oversee policies and procedures, adjusts work to ensure processes are followed.
  • Train and evaluate crew including student, ancillary, and freelance workers, prepares staffing requirements for events and oversees performance evaluation.
  • Train all staff working events in proper procedures for Arizona Sporting Events, ensuring everyone is doing their job with high energy and high output to ensure customer base is able to watch a live event without service interruption.
  • Utilize and support various transport technologies, including copper, fiber, and IP transports, to ensure high-quality signal transmission across multiple locations and shows. Plan accordingly for adverse weather conditions to ensure live events are available to a wide audience.
  • Ensure equipment functions according to industry regulations and standards. Monitor system functions and prep for each event knowing there could be an issue, create multiple plans to ensure video quality is maintained and delivered in a timely manner to fans watching at home.
  • Develops, manages, and maintains the technical equipment associated with special events to ensure all audio-visual requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with leadership on work objectives for home live linear/streaming TV and videoboard events. practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies. Ensure production team and their staff are using the highest quality technological devices. Direct and monitor system upgrades to ensure facility is prepared to support advanced technology and staff is trained to ensure systems do not break.
  • Operates still, motion picture, and/or video cameras for advertising, news, publicity, and technical use.
  • Ensures adherence to media inventory storage standards.
  • Processes and edits photographs and videos using digital editing systems.
  • Develop and implement operational plans and policies for unit, with decisions impacting Conference broadcast planning.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Five years of related work experience, including two years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Technical experience with Ross, Evertz, EVS, RTS-Odin, DANTE, Sony cameras, and Daktronics equipment.
  • Three years of live athletic event production experience.
  • Technical experience with control room systems such as routers, switches, graphics, replays, cameras, servers, and other video-related systems.
  • Experience with Division 1 program.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position that will be responsible for managing the installation, maintenance, and operation of audiovisual equipment, digital media systems, and broadcast technologies for Arizona Athletics. The position will require working outside in inclement weather conditions, at heights of up to 50 feet, and standing for four or more hours at a time while lifting, holding, and/or carrying 50 lbs. of equipment.
