Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a correctional facility setting.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse will be responsible for performing a wide range of patient care activities, including exams, assessments, and procedures. You will work under the direction of a registered nurse and as part of a total correctional managed health care team to provide safe and competent care to patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with or perform exams, assessments, and procedures, and document intervention in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate patient data using the electronic medical record to support decision-making and improve patient care.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current issues and treatment modalities.
  • Assist in admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Prepare and operate necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Administer or assist with administration or documentation of medications.
  • Provide additional licensed nursing support to fill in gaps and alleviate staffing shortages.
  • Complete additional clinical and administrative tasks based on unit needs.
  • Build professional connections to strengthen our team and promote our values.

Since 1989, TTUHSC Managed Care has served as a healthcare delivery service, providing high-quality, low-cost healthcare to patients within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system. We provide medical, mental health, and dental services to patients in 22 facilities throughout West Texas.

Requirements:
  • Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program.
  • New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on the first attempt.
