The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Chair and Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences. This position is integral to providing leadership and direction within a vibrant department renowned for its contributions to animal sciences.
Key Responsibilities
The Chair will be responsible for:
1. Offering strategic vision and leadership to the department.
2. Setting objectives and developing policy guidelines in collaboration with faculty members.
3. Fostering academic excellence through the recruitment and mentorship of faculty, staff, and students.
4. Assisting faculty and students in obtaining funding, awards, and honors.
5. Promoting the continuous enhancement of graduate and undergraduate programs.
6. Managing financial matters, including budget preparation and allocation of resources.
7. Planning and executing initiatives to improve research and educational facilities.
8. Leading fundraising efforts to secure resources for departmental advancement.
9. Advocating for the department at various institutional levels.
10. Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across multiple sectors.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in animal sciences or a closely related discipline, demonstrating a strong record of research and teaching excellence. Candidates should be eligible for a tenured position at the full professor level. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups are essential. A commitment to the mission of a land-grant university and experience with funding sources are also required.
Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
