Key Responsibilities- Accompany physicians into examination areas and assist with documenting patient medical records.
- Document results of external exams, anterior segment exams, and posterior segment exams, as well as fluorescein angiography, laser, and ocular injection treatments.
- Maintain patient flow, directing physicians to the next examination room and ensuring the correct sequence of events occurs for each patient.
- Review patient charts and ensure each section is closed.
- Print and deliver patient After Visit Summaries (AVS), Medication RX, and Eyeglass RX.
- Perform Universal Protocol on all patients receiving procedures.
- Train other scribes as assigned by the manager.
- Assist with managing patient flow and calling patients into the room when ready for the physician.
- Act as a facilitator to patients as they arrive, ensuring the correct sequence of examinations are performed.
- Act as an escort to patients when necessary.
- Ability and willingness to travel to different department locations.
- Assist the manager with clerical duties, performing errands between departments, and assisting with room and medication inspections.
- H.S. Diploma/GED required and 0-1 years' experience in healthcare or as a medical secretary.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external constituents.
- Ability to work effectively with a range of business, clinical, and academic leaders.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to utilize computer software.
