Role of the ELL Educator

The English Language Learner (ELL) Educator plays a pivotal role in guiding the educational journey of students classified as English Language Learners. This position is designed to ensure the success of these students while managing their educational needs across one or more campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader in implementing and demonstrating effective ELL instructional strategies throughout the curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and appropriately place ELL students within suitable educational programs.
  • Adapt teaching resources and methodologies to accommodate a diverse student body.
  • Design and execute weekly instructional plans aimed at enhancing English language proficiency.
  • Support classroom teachers by working with individuals or small groups to reinforce English language and content-area learning objectives.
  • Provide targeted instruction to develop language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, in alignment with district standards.
  • Regularly evaluate student progress through assessments, ensuring alignment with state language proficiency standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of student performance and instructional plans, adhering to federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to develop and manage a robust ELL program.
  • Offer insights into the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of students to enhance instructional effectiveness.

Educational and Certification Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Missouri Teaching Certification is mandatory.
  • Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12 or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of teaching experience, particularly in urban educational settings, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and virtual learning platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering student achievement.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
  • Passion for content knowledge and teaching.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for this role is $40,036.52, with increases based on experience, certifications, and educational qualifications.
