As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the patient care mission by carrying out medical and administrative tasks in accordance with your scope of practice.
Key responsibilities include escorting patients to exam rooms, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information on patients' charts.
You will also coordinate and provide patient support services such as scheduling appointments, answering telephones, greeting patients, and registering patients in a patient care area.
Additionally, you will assist with running spirometry tests and EKGs on patients, reviewing patient records, and ensuring that examining rooms are properly equipped with supplies.
Other duties may include calling for pre-certifications, working with patient account representatives and secretaries to facilitate referrals, and practicing within the scope of practice for medical/clinic assistants.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or general education degree, one to three months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification through a recognized regulatory body, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Healthcare Association, or National Certified Medical Assistant, is also required.
Preferred qualifications include one year of work experience in a clinic setting, knowledge of medical terminology, medical supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control, and prior experience or knowledge of examinations, diagnostics, and treatment room procedures.
