Analytical Operations Technician

Restek Corporation is in search of an Analytical Operations Technician. The selected candidate will be a vital part of the Analytical Reference Material (ARM) division. Key responsibilities encompass weighing, mixing, ampulating, and packaging products. This role necessitates the handling of various chemicals, including regulated substances and carcinogens, while strictly adhering to safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The ideal candidate must possess a keen attention to detail and basic computer proficiency. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is advantageous.
This position is essential to a growing team in a dynamic environment. The working hours will be during the third shift, Sunday through Friday, from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, with opportunities for overtime. Initial training will occur Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm for approximately 6-8 weeks.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Product Processing: Accurately weigh, mix, ampulate, and package reference standards. Ensure that inventory levels are consistently maintained and backorders are addressed promptly.
- Chemical Management: Safely manage a variety of chemicals, including regulated materials and carcinogens, in accordance with established safety protocols.
- SOP Adherence: Rigorously follow standard operating procedures and safety regulations. Consult safety officers, reference materials, or MSDS as necessary.
- Record Maintenance: Keep accurate records and databases related to Statistical Product Control (SPC) and other quality metrics. Analyze data to identify potential issues.
- Equipment Care: Conduct basic repairs, installations, and maintenance on equipment as required.
- Training and Guidance: Offer technical training and support to colleagues when sufficiently experienced.
- Team Engagement: Participate in departmental and team meetings and undertake additional duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Activity Level: Required to stand for 8-10 hours per shift with occasional breaks; includes activities such as stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, fingering, pinching, grasping, and typing.
- Lifting Requirements: Occasionally exert up to 20 lbs. of force, frequently up to 10 lbs.
- Environmental Exposure: May encounter fumes, odors, dust, and gases.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Preferably, candidates should have 2 years of specialized training in a science-related technology or relevant experience. Previous experience in manufacturing is a plus.
- Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Basic mathematical and scientific problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
- Understanding of business concepts and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
- Ability to follow and provide clear oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills and the capability to train others.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of a respirator fit test, enrollment in an annual medical surveillance program, and obtaining DEA and ATF clearances for handling regulated materials.
