Senior Hardware/Platform Engineer

Job Summary
iXsystems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Hardware/Platform Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving R&D efforts for the TrueNAS hardware platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate potential hardware platforms and research emerging storage hardware trends.
- Perform design and qualification of new components and products.
- Engage in prototyping, failure analysis, and provide support for field issues with existing TrueNAS platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product management, supply chain, and software engineering teams during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware engineering, with expertise in enterprise-grade server components and system assembly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience with qualification testing, including setting up test plans and documenting results.
- Knowledge of hardware automation testing frameworks, Python, shell scripting, and testing processes.
- Strong understanding of server hardware components, interconnects, assembly, and configuration.
- Deep understanding of how server hardware interfaces with Linux Drivers and Kernel subsystems.
- Proficient in tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, thermal testing equipment, and other hardware diagnostics equipment.
