Job Summary

This instructor position requires teaching 10-24 hours weekly of intensive English for academic purposes (EAP) in the Advantage VT program. Instructors will uphold a leadership role in the future direction of the program and in curriculum planning. Qualified and experienced EAP faculty are a critical component in providing students opportunities for success and are integral to the team approach we take in preparing students for university study.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver up to three EAP courses per semester in accordance with the curriculum of the AVT program.
  • Related duties as assigned, which may include: administrative tasks such as placement testing, institutional reporting, student advising, and other duties.
  • Adhere to and maintain program policies and procedures for curriculum, grade recording, attendance, and assessments.
  • Participate in planning and development of AVT curriculum, including creation and revision of courses.
  • Organize and implement orientation sessions, and complete pre- and post-term duties during intersessions as assigned.
  • Submit grades and other required reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Contribute to and participate in staff development sessions, regular staff meetings, and ongoing program development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a mutually supportive team environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including yearly attendance and/or presentation at TESOL conference at the international or affiliate level.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics, or very closely related field with a TESOL certificate (minimum 18 credit hours).
  • Considerable experience teaching a variety of university ESL/EAP courses, levels, and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the latest technology and teaching techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with integration of technology in the classroom including learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).
  • Knowledge of and experience with curriculum design and evaluation.
  • Understanding of the US University system and environment and of the demands that international students will face in undertaking undergraduate level study.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • International work experience.
  • Proficiency in a foreign language.
