Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer

Turion Space is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our platform engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices to ensure the smooth operation of our systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • CI/CD Pipeline Design and Implementation: Contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools, ensuring best practices in automation, security, and reliability.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Assist in architecting and improving deployment processes from our CI/CD pipelines to AWS environments, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Implement and enhance infrastructure as code practices, primarily using AWS CDK, to manage and provision AWS resources.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Contribute to the design and implementation of advanced monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for proactive issue detection and resolution in AWS environments.
  • Cloud Optimization: Participate in cloud infrastructure optimization initiatives, balancing cost, performance, security, and compliance requirements in AWS.
  • DevOps Best Practices: Contribute to and help maintain DevOps and platform engineering best practices, including documentation for the organization.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting complex, mission-critical issues in production environments.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align CI/CD and AWS infrastructure implementations with overall business objectives.
  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate, test, and integrate cutting-edge technologies to continuously improve our CI/CD and AWS capabilities.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Technical Strategy: Offer insights and recommendations for architectural decisions and technical strategy related to DevOps practices.
  • Code Development: Develop and maintain complex codebases primarily written in TypeScript, Python, and Go.
  • Security: Implement security best practices across our CI/CD pipelines and AWS environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Disaster Recovery: Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity plans for our CI/CD pipelines and AWS-based systems.
  • Secrets Management: Implement and manage advanced secrets management solutions to secure sensitive information across our entire infrastructure.
Qualifications:
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles.
  • Track Record: Proven track record of implementing large-scale CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of CI/CD concepts and extensive experience with industry-standard CI/CD tools.
  • AWS Expertise: Deep expertise with AWS services and architectures, particularly around containerization and orchestration.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Advanced proficiency in infrastructure as code tools, especially AWS CDK.
  • Programming Language: Expert-level knowledge in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript).
  • Containerization: Extensive experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Amazon EKS).
  • Networking and Security: Comprehensive understanding of networking, security, and infrastructure concepts in cloud environments.
  • Mentorship: Strong mentoring abilities and experience guiding junior engineers.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive technical initiatives.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional).
  • Industry Experience: Experience in DevOps roles within aerospace or high-tech industries.
  • Programming Skills: Advanced skills in Python and Go, with a history of significant contributions to open-source projects.
  • Advanced AWS Services: Expertise in advanced AWS services such as AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, and AWS AppSync.
  • GitOps: Experience implementing GitOps practices and tools in large-scale environments.
  • Enterprise Linux: Deep knowledge of enterprise Linux distributions and their management at scale.
  • Monitoring and Observability: Experience designing and implementing advanced monitoring and observability solutions for complex CI/CD and AWS environments.
  • Problem-Solving: Track record of successful problem-solving in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
  • MLOps: Knowledge of machine learning operations (MLOps) and experience integrating ML workflows into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to the aerospace industry (e.g., NIST, ITAR).
  • Financial Management: Experience with financial aspects of cloud infrastructure management.

ITAR Requirements: This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls.
