Our Opportunity

South Puget Sound Community College is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual for the role of Talent Acquisition Specialist.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for delivering professional-level Human Resource support and guidance to faculty, staff, job applicants, and the broader college community. This role encompasses the management of recruitment initiatives across the college, oversight of applicant tracking systems, and assistance with various complex and confidential personnel matters. The position requires a high degree of independence and minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  1. Providing comprehensive Human Resource services in alignment with federal and state regulations, as well as established college policies. This includes planning, coordinating, prioritizing, and executing services related to recruitment, retention, classification, compensation, and confidential communications for all employees.
  2. Utilizing expertise to analyze and resolve complex issues while offering guidance to management and staff on policies, procedures, and employment laws, including unique situations that require innovative solutions.
  3. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
    • Acting as the primary recruiter for all positions, managing the application process, and maintaining the college's job postings. Offering consultation to supervisors on recruitment challenges, diversity objectives, and compensation matters.
    • Advertising job openings and disseminating recruitment notifications to various platforms, analyzing data to identify cost-effective strategies.
    • Overseeing recruitment processes using digital collaboration tools, including managing committee communications and training committee members on diversity and confidentiality.
    • Clarifying position requirements and recruitment procedures to prospective candidates, ensuring the accuracy of application materials.
    • Coordinating interview logistics, including scheduling, accommodations, and necessary arrangements.
    • Evaluating staffing needs to develop strategies for retention and recruitment.
  4. Diversity Initiatives
    • Implementing strategies to enhance the representation of marginalized groups in hiring processes, ensuring fairness and equity for all applicants.
    • Analyzing candidate pool diversity data and collaborating with committees to improve recruitment practices.
  5. Community Engagement
    • Promoting a positive image of the college at events by engaging with attendees and providing professional responses to inquiries.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with community and technical colleges to facilitate recruitment and career opportunities.
    • Researching and recommending initiatives to strengthen candidate pipelines through pre-employment programs.
  6. Background Checks
    • Initiating background checks for new hires in accordance with college policies and regulations.
    • Ensuring compliance with necessary documentation and communication with previous employers.
  7. Onboarding
    • Finalizing new hire documentation and ensuring all necessary paperwork is processed efficiently.
    • Compiling onboarding materials for new employees.
  8. Position Management
    • Creating and managing job codes and position descriptions to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Reviewing and updating position descriptions as necessary.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and two years of professional Human Resource experience or equivalent education/experience.
  2. Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems, preferably NEOGOV.
  3. Experience in all phases of the talent acquisition process, including application review and candidate evaluation.
  4. Practical knowledge of federal, state, and civil service laws related to employment practices.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.
  7. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  8. Good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  9. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  10. Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
