Assistant Coach

Job Summary

Rutgers University is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Coach to join its Athletics Events – Operations department. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of a Softball intercollegiate athletic program that provides student-athletes with the opportunity to train and compete on a competitive, Division I softball program while pursuing their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Softball program that aligns with the university's athletic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to recruit and retain top talent, both on and off the field.
  • Develop and implement training programs that enhance the skills and performance of student-athletes.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, accommodations, and other logistical aspects of the Softball program.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to the Softball program, including player statistics and team performance.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Sports Management or Education.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of NCAA regulations and rules governing Softball.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer software and technology, including scheduling and communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Coaching experience at the intercollegiate level, preferably in Softball.
  • Familiarity with Rutgers University's athletic programs and policies.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
