A leading construction company, Roessel Joy, is seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, including full-cycle AP/AR processing, general ledger activities, AIA billing, lien waivers, OCIP, and payroll processing for approximately 2025 employees using iSolved software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
- Manage bank reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize double-entry bookkeeping to record financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Handle debits and credits accurately to ensure financial records are up-to-date and accurate.
- Apply financial concepts to support decision-making and drive business growth.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in technical accounting practices, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Strong 10-key typing skills to ensure efficient data entry and processing.
- Experience with account reconciliation and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with financial software and spreadsheets, including QuickBooks and Excel.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, including debits and credits.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in month-end close to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Work closely with Project Managers to facilitate accuracy of WIP reporting, inclusive of contract value, cost, and cost accruals.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all financial transactions and activities.
- Manage fixed asset accounts, including monthly depreciation.
- Effectively monitor prepaid expenses and book monthly amortization.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Perform analysis and participate in special projects upon management request.
- Initiate all wires and bank reconciliations.
- Update cash projections and interact with accounts payable.
- Update investment schedules.
- Book tax adjustment entry for federal and state based on net income.
- Prepare trial balance analysis.
- Ensure financials are completed timely and various reconciliations are performed.
- Prepare Cash and Investment summary.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with a degree in accounting or 5+ years of experience in accounting.
- Accounting degree or commensurate experience.
- Project accounting experience valued.
- Construction industry experience is a must.
