Your Impact/Key Responsibilities:
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Event Services Supervisor directly oversees catered functions, which includes:
- Planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of all events.
- Maintaining communication with the host throughout the event to ensure maximum guest satisfaction.
- Performing all duties in line with hotel and brand service standards.
This industry operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Regular attendance in accordance with company standards is essential for success in this role.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. Experience with food & beverage (POS) systems is advantageous.
- 1-2 years of experience in banquet food service.
- Prior training in liquor, wine, and food service.
- Knowledge of various food service styles (e.g., French service, Russian service, Family Style service, Butler style service).
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certification in alcohol awareness program.
- Previous guest/customer relations training is preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Strong understanding of the English language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and transport at least 50 pounds; push/pull carts and equipment up to 150 pounds.
- Capable of enduring various physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, and co-workers.
- Must be able to stand and maintain mobility for up to 8 hours.
- Willingness to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to input and access information in property management systems/computers/POS systems.
- Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls.
- Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools for Banquets.
- Creative skills for decorating food tables/displays.
- Wear proper uniform, including nametag; flat, closed-toe non-slip shoes are required.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times and resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with guests and team members.
- Maintain knowledge of all hotel features/services, hours of operation, special packages, and promotions.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper setup of function areas; rectify any deficiencies with respective departments.
- Meet with the Chef and Banquet Manager to review scheduled menus and equipment requirements.
- Prepare station assignments for Banquet Servers according to group requirements and hotel standards.
- Conduct pre-function meetings with Servers to review all pertinent information.
- Inspect table setups for cleanliness and adherence to group requirements.
- Meet group coordinators prior to functions to ensure all arrangements are agreeable.
- Direct servers on timing of service throughout functions.
- Assist Banquet staff to ensure optimal service to guests.
- Oversee the final breakdown of function rooms and cleanup.
- Process all payments according to established hotel requirements.
- Maintain guest confidentiality at all times.
- Assist in emergencies to protect guests and associates, and preserve the building and its systems.
- Adhere to all department and hotel policies and procedures.
Work Environment:
Work environments include banquet rooms and all areas of the hotel, involving variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
