Key Responsibilities:
The Substance Abuse Counselor I will deliver counseling services to individuals experiencing Substance Use Disorders under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Manager.
• Conduct intake assessments and provide information and referral services to clients as assigned.
• Collaborate with clients to develop accurate assessments and tailored treatment plans.
• Work in partnership with service providers and the on-site team to ensure effective treatment planning.
• Offer case management services, including assessments, psychosocial histories, treatment plans, and both group and individual counseling for up to 35 clients.
• Facilitate referrals to appropriate internal and external services to meet client needs.
• Utilize various counseling modalities, including individual and group sessions, and provide education on issues related to Substance Use Disorders and recovery-oriented activities.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies and advocacy methods as necessary to support the client population.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma with NY State Qualified Health Professional (QHP) credentials, including licensure or certification as a CASAC.
• Associate's Degree with NY State QHP credentials, including licensure or certification as a CASAC or CASAC-T.
• Bachelor's Degree with NY State QHP credentials, including licensure or certification as a CASAC or CASAC-T.
• Proficient in evaluating and intervening in crisis situations.
• Ability to engage with clients and staff across various facilities.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English, Russian/English, Creole/English, Chinese/English, Korean/English) are preferred but not mandatory.
• Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
• Willingness to travel to multiple locations as needed.
