Pediatric Care Specialist

The Emergency Department Child Life Specialist is a vital member of our team at Cook Children's Health Care System. This role is responsible for providing essential life experiences, family support, and education to patients and families in the healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with healthcare providers and the community to promote growth and development and facilitate positive adjustment for patients and families throughout the healthcare experience.
- Develop and implement programs to support patients and families in the Emergency Department.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and families to help them cope with medical procedures and hospitalization.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for patients and families.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient and family-centered care.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a closely related field.
- Completion of a child life internship.
- Previous experience working as a Child Life Specialist or within an Emergency Department is preferred.
- Certified Child Life Specialist (or eligible) within one year of hire.
- American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS is required within 60 days of hire.
