Materials Procurement Specialist

Job Summary
The Doe Run Company is seeking a skilled Raw Materials Buyer to contribute to the operational and financial performance of our Resource Recycling Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing lead-bearing raw materials from non-toll sources, ensuring they are consistent with BRRD's capabilities at a suitable cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Source raw materials from scrap metal dealers and lead acid battery distributors, ensuring compliance with BRRD's capabilities and cost requirements.
- Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, invoices, and commercial reports, as well as various agreements, to inform purchasing decisions.
- Finding, sourcing, and negotiating the purchase of spent lead acid batteries and other forms of lead-bearing materials from scrap metal dealers/traders and battery distributors, including identifying new sources of supply.
- Oversee the preparation of various commercial reports, analyze the data, and make recommendations to optimize purchasing strategies.
- Maintain a solid understanding of the Resource Recycling Divisional capabilities (environmental, process, storage) and other regulatory requirements associated with buying, receiving, and processing various lead-bearing materials.
- Review and approve raw material settlement reports and assays for buy/sell accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Keep apprised of material-specific information for each supplier's account, including scrap pricing and marketplace competition.
- Research and resolve supplier complaints and non-conformances, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience purchasing/trading scrap metals and lead acid batteries, preferably with exposure to sales contracts interpretation and implementation.
- Science background, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and ability to 'cold call' new potential suppliers.
- Capability to source and negotiate, effective communication at all levels of an organization, high aptitude for learning, and solid work ethic.
- Tenacity, integrity, and ability to work efficiently under pressure, proactive approach to identifying and anticipating customer needs and objections.
Work Environment, Physical & Lifting Requirements
- Work is generally performed in a standard office setting, with regular travel to suppliers (30%+ local & overnight travel) and customer locations.
- Regularly required to sit for extended periods, talk and hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and perform repetitive movements. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
- May be required to lift up to 15 pounds.
