Position Summary: The Food Service Clerk plays a vital role in the preparation and safe handling of food products available in the department. This position requires delivering attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service while assisting customers with inquiries and making product recommendations through suggestive selling techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiently reading, writing, speaking, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding the English language.
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Standing and walking for the entirety of a scheduled shift.
  • Engaging in physical activities such as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and regularly lifting up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Working in varying temperature conditions.
  • Handling a diverse range of fresh, dried, and processed products, spices, and powdered substances without adverse allergic reactions.
  • Tolerating moderate levels of dust and chemical agents during routine cleaning tasks.
  • Operating necessary equipment as required by the department, including slicers, scales, can openers, wrapping machines, fryolators, and ovens.
  • Adhering to all work schedules and complying with time and attendance policies.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensuring department sanitation and quality assurance standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
  • Greeting customers and providing prompt, courteous service.
  • Maintaining product display conditions by stocking, cleaning, straightening, and rotating items.
  • Preparing various food items, including salads, sandwiches, and entrees, according to established recipes and company standards.
  • Monitoring temperatures in display cases and storage areas to ensure food safety.
  • Following approved procedures for receiving and storing products to maintain quality and proper rotation.
  • Handling damaged or unsaleable products in accordance with company policy.
  • Keeping signage updated on all items to inform customers about product choices and ingredients.
  • Utilizing and maintaining equipment as required, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Complying with all federal, state, and local regulations related to food service operations.
  • Completing all necessary training programs relevant to the department.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Note: Associates must be 18 years or older to operate specific equipment.
