Job Summary

As a key member of our Facilities Management department, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical equipment, fire alarm systems, emergency generators, fire protection systems, and low voltage systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, schematics, photos, blueprints, and specifications to properly install or modify electrical wiring and equipment.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled job assignments to electrical systems, including installing electrical conduit, wire mold, conduit trays, and duct banks, and pulling electrical wire through installed conduit.
  • Splice and join wire using appropriate tools for low voltage, install all phases of grounding leads, and connect motors, fixtures, wiring devices, controls, sound, appliance equipment, and wiring systems to power cables.
  • Test electrical circuits and equipment for compatibility and safety using test instruments such as volt/ohmmeter, meg-ohm-meter, phase rotation meter, amp meter, recording meter, infra-red thermal meter, light meter, circuit tracer, or continuity tester.
  • Perform work on specialized electrical equipment such as emergency generators, transformers, variable frequency drives, uninterruptible power supply, and fire pumps with appropriate training.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment and systems.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in electrical maintenance.
  • Valid City of Pittsburgh registered electrician license.
  • Valid driver's license.
