Restaurant General Manager Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Restaurant General Manager to oversee all aspects of operations at our renowned restaurant in Southampton, NY.

About the Role:

  • This is a leadership position that requires strong background in managing upscale dining establishments, with a focus on creating exceptional guest experiences and driving business success.
  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading teams, ensuring operational excellence, managing finances, and maintaining high standards of service and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Staff Management: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of front-of-house and back-of-house staff. Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to foster a positive and high-performing team culture.
  2. Operational Excellence: Ensure the restaurant runs smoothly on a daily basis by managing all operational tasks, including inventory management, vendor relationships, quality control, and staff scheduling.
  3. Guest Experience: Uphold the highest standards of service, ensuring an exceptional and memorable dining experience for every guest. Handle guest inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain satisfaction.
  4. Financial Management: Oversee the restaurant's financial performance, including budgeting, P&L management, cost control, and monitoring key financial metrics.
  5. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines are followed, maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant environment for both guests and staff.
  6. Marketing and Promotions: Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional strategies to drive traffic, increase brand awareness, and enhance guest loyalty.
  7. Event Coordination: Plan and execute private events, ensuring flawless service and a high-quality guest experience for all functions.
  8. Menu and Product Quality: Work with the culinary team to ensure the quality, consistency, and presentation of food and beverages align with the restaurant's standards.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in restaurant management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage high-end, high-volume operations effectively.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in financial management, including budget creation, P&L oversight, and cost control.
  • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage trends, restaurant operations, and best practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
