SUMMARYThe Patient Observation Specialist is responsible for the continuous monitoring and surveillance of assigned patients through video technology.
The primary duty involves providing verbal guidance to patients to prevent at-risk behaviors and alerting nursing staff when assistance is needed.
It is essential for the Video Monitor Assistant (VMA) to communicate effectively and document observations accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS
1 year or less of relevant experience required; High school diploma or equivalent.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing video monitoring software.
- Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care based on individualized patient plans as directed by the RN.
- Maintain constant visual observation of patients.
- Provide focused attention to monitoring patients without distractions.
- Use the digital 2-way audio device to verbally redirect patients as needed.
- Promptly notify nursing staff if a patient requires assistance.
- Participate in the transfer of relevant information regarding patient behavior during shift changes.
- Ensure the monitoring station is never left unattended while patients are being observed.
- Offer explanations to patients as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation of observations.
- Seek assistance immediately if a patient poses a risk to themselves or others.
- Collaborate in identifying and reporting safety concerns.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients by removing potential hazards and reporting findings to the Charge Nurse or Primary Nurse.
- Act in the capacity of a CNA when monitoring is not required.

- Medium Work
- Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting.
For specific care programs, refer to departmental requirements for experience and educational expectations, including continuing education needs.

PAY RANGE:$22.43
The listed base pay range reflects the current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. Pay may be adjusted in the future and is subject to additional pay components. Compensation is determined by factors such as experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contractual agreements.
