Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to Trouble Calls, ensuring Tier II/III service tickets are addressed within specified timeframes for optimal service continuity.
  • Manage and oversee the virtual desktop environment, ensuring seamless operation and user satisfaction.
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) systems to provide a stable virtual workspace.
  • Install, configure, and sustain VDI environments, including servers, storage solutions, and virtual desktops.
  • Administer and maintain Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, including storage arrays and fabric switches.
  • Offer technical assistance to end-users facing VDI-related challenges, ensuring swift resolution.
  • Allocate and manage storage resources effectively, aligning with business needs for optimal performance.
  • Monitor the health and performance of VDI systems, proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Implement updates, patches, and configuration changes to maintain a secure and current VDI environment.
  • Enforce security protocols within the VDI framework, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
  • Safeguard data within the SAN through effective security measures, including encryption and access controls.
  • Plan for future growth by monitoring resource utilization and performance metrics.
  • Analyze SAN performance to identify and rectify bottlenecks, enhancing data access efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of the VDI environment, including configurations and procedures.
  • Oversee backup and recovery processes for virtual desktops to ensure business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot SAN-related issues, addressing hardware failures and performance challenges.
  • Keep documentation of the SAN environment current, including configurations and processes.
  • Manage firmware and software updates for SAN devices to ensure security and functionality.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, including networking and security, to ensure cohesive integration of the VDI environment.
  • Engage with VDI software and hardware vendors for support and troubleshooting.
  • Stay informed about the latest VDI technologies and best practices, recommending enhancements to improve user experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • At least 4 years of experience in IT service and infrastructure support.
  • Baseline Certifications: Security+ (upon contract start).
  • Computing Environment Certifications: VMware Certified Professional and Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Proven expertise in managing VDI environments, such as VMware Horizon or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Familiarity with hypervisors, including VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure related to VDI.
  • Strong grasp of virtualization technologies and concepts.
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation purposes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the Army or other DoD/Federal Agency.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with military officials and management.

Special Requirements/Security Clearance

  • Secret Security Clearance required.
