Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Worker to join our team at the University of Southern Maine. As a key member of our Custodial Services department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute custodial duties and responsibilities, including basic cleaning, operating cleaning equipment, and using cleaning chemicals.
  • Enforce safety and procedural standards, and report maintenance concerns to management.
  • Place orders for supplies and collect necessary materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate project steps and activities within the project of the assigned crew.
  • Inspect work to ensure assignments are completed according to specifications and standards.
  • Provide work direction to crew members and explain processes, procedures, and standards.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and sufficient experience including three (3) years of custodial-related work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving history check to operate University vehicles.
  • Proven ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating custodial cleaning equipment, and leading a crew or coordinating small projects.
