Job Title: Veterinary Pathologist

Franklin Biolabs is a leading Contract Research Organization (CRO) that offers a comprehensive suite of services in the field of genetic medicines. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Veterinary Pathologist/Toxicologic Pathologist to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Veterinary Pathologist with expertise in toxicologic pathology to contribute to our cutting-edge research and drug development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary anatomic pathology, with a focus on gene therapy products and other related drug candidates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform macroscopic and microscopic primary reads and peer reviews of animal tissues, determining the biologic and toxicologic significance in the context of other study data.
  • Employ routine H&E evaluations as well as other specialized techniques, such as immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization.
  • Effectively communicate pathology data and other safety data in study reports, regulatory documents, and project team meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Advise in the design and execution of studies, as it relates to pathology.
  • Provide training, technical guidance, and leadership to laboratory staff.
  • Work closely with other scientists, veterinarians, and regulatory professionals.
  • Enter pathology findings in data capturing systems.
  • Work with study directors to ensure data is accurately integrated into study reports.
  • Assist with necropsy supervision and gross pathology interpretation.
Qualifications
  • DVM (or equivalent) degree.
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), European College of Veterinary Pathology (ECVP), or Japanese College of Veterinary Pathology (JCVP).
  • Proficiency in veterinary anatomic pathology.
  • 5+ years of relevant histopathology and toxicology experience for senior role (2+ years relevant experience for junior role).
  • Experience with regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with preclinical safety assessment strategies for various drug products, including gene therapy products, small molecules, or other biologics.
  • Proven team member with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and with Xybion or other related histopathology data capture software.
