This position is responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance strategies, policies, and procedures to maintain the highest level of product and service excellence.


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Veterinary Pathologist/Toxicologic pathologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in veterinary pathology, and more specifically toxicologic pathology, with a focus on gene therapy products and other related drug candidates.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform macroscopic and microscopic primary reads and peer reviews of animal tissues of assigned studies and determine the biologic and toxicologic significance in the context of other study data
  • Employ routine H&E evaluations as well as other specialized techniques (e.g.
  • immunohistochemistry, in-situ hybridization, etc.).
  • Effectively communicate pathology data and other safety data in study reports, regulatory documents, and project team meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Advise in the design and execution of studies, as it relates to pathology.
  • Provide training, technical guidance and leadership to laboratory staff.
  • Work closely with other scientists, veterinarians, and regulatory professionals.
  • Enter pathology findings in data capturing system.
  • Work with study directors to ensure data is accurately integrated into study reports.
  • Assist with necropsy supervision and gross pathology interpretation. Guiding of personal staff
  • for sample collection and technical development.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge in toxicologic pathology.


Qualifications

  • DVM (or equivalent)
  • Board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), European College of Veterinary Pathology (ECVP) or Japanese College of Veterinary Pathology (JCVP).
  • Proficiency in veterinary anatomic pathology.
  • 5+ years of relevant histopathology and toxicology experience for senior role (2+ years relevant experience for junior role).
  • Experience with regulatory submissions.
  • Familiar and comfortable with preclinical safety assessment strategies for various drug products, including but not limited to gene therapy products, small molecules or other biologics.
  • Proven team member that can work unilaterally and collaboratively.
  • Detail oriented and able to guide toxicology strategy and histopathology operations improvements in a growing company.
  • Prior experience managing direct report(s).
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and/or programs concurrently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, and with Xybion or other related histopathology data capture software
