Attending Physician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Attending Physician to join our team at Rikers Island in East Elmhurst, NY. As a key member of our care delivery team, you will provide primary care to patients in jail-based clinics, perform intake evaluations, and provide emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians.
Responsibilities:- Complete comprehensive histories and physicals on all new admissions
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Evaluate the need for consult services and submit prioritized consults when indicated
- Review all on-island/off-island specialty consult clinic and hospital returns
- Respond to emergencies and fire drills in a timely and professional manner
- Be familiar with performance indicators (P.I.) and take appropriate measures to comply with these standards
- Request radiology exams, lab tests, and EKGs when indicated and interpret results in conjunction with the patient's clinical status
- Notify Urgicare for 3-hour/EMS runs
- Generate medical modifications as needed
- Maintain clinical competency by reviewing CHS protocols, current medical literature, and C.M.E.s
- Provide clinical supervision for P.A.s/N.P.s, including co-signing of notes and medication orders
- Ensure standard of care is maintained
- Adhere to policies and procedures of CHS and be familiar with them by reviewing them as needed
- Attend all mandatory in-services
- Comply with and maintain Employee Health requirements
- Registered to practice medicine in the State of New York and have Federal DEA, BCLS or ACLS, and Infection Control Certification
- Medical Specialty License or Certification
- Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty
- 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, including residency in a directly related medical specialty
- Familiar with EHR
