Role Summary

The Manufacturing Process Specialist will deliver engineering and technical assistance to support PureCycle's operations. This role encompasses providing guidance for all facilities regarding design and functionality. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the initial focus will be on optimizing daily operations and establishing best practices at the facility. The specialist will also identify future capital projects and enhance the design of upcoming plants. In the early stages, the specialist will collaborate with site engineers on both immediate and long-term initiatives aimed at continuous improvement in process safety, operational efficiency, cost management, and overall manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage actively in all company safety initiatives and objectives
  • Offer technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges
  • Support project managers during design evaluations and assist in scheduling and construction
  • Review and discuss design modifications and improvement opportunities with relevant teams
  • Develop project scopes for engineering teams and lead projects through to completion
  • Assist in the design, procurement, and installation of new machinery
  • Examine vendor data packages and drawings for accuracy and enhancement
  • Support the advancement of Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements and initiatives
  • Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process to oversee proposed modifications
  • Contribute to the development of operational procedures and participate in training for improvements
  • Utilize statistical methods to assess and enhance process capabilities
  • Explore innovative technologies and equipment adjustments to boost safety, compliance, reliability, and efficiency

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing sector
  • Proven critical thinking, troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, team members, contractors, and clients
  • Capability to lead and collaborate within cross-functional teams
  • Willingness to learn, embrace new challenges, and grow within the organization
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively to achieve results
  • Proactive in identifying and completing tasks essential for operational support
  • Familiarity with Federal and State regulations including EPA, OSHA, PSM, EHS, and DOT
  • Knowledge of chemical industry standards and permitting processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency situations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in engineering design is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with handling flammable materials; polymer experience is preferred
  • Experience with engineering tools such as Aspen Engineering, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of Emerson DeltaV process control systems or similar DCS
  • Experience in site commissioning and startup activities
  • Project management experience at corporate and plant levels; certification is a plus
