The Electrical Technician Trainee supports experienced electricians in a variety of functions related to the installation, upkeep, and repair of electrical systems within commercial and industrial environments. The role entails ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards while assisting in tasks such as material handling, site preparation, equipment setup, and site cleanup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment at various job sites.
- Transport materials and supplies to specified work areas as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Prepare work sites by removing debris, establishing temporary barriers, and ensuring proper access for tools and personnel.
- Help with excavating trenches and holes for electrical conduits and wiring under the guidance of seasoned electricians.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of electrical equipment, scaffolding, and other temporary structures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and work areas to promote safety and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Willingness to work extended and varied shifts as necessary.
- Must acquire the minimum required tool set within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to work in all seasons and conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently climb stairs, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in the electrical field is highly desirable.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings (background and drug tests).
- Demonstrated commitment to safety practices.
- Strong time management skills are essential.
- Willingness to pursue journeyman certification within 12 months after completing the apprenticeship.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and possess strong communication skills.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
