Position Overview

The main objective of this role is to safely transport residents to various appointments and activities beyond the facility's premises.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Duties
  1. Ensure safe transit for residents to and from scheduled activities and appointments.
  2. Deliver and pick up items as needed to support community requirements.
  3. Assist residents in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, ensuring their safety through proper procedures and equipment.
  4. Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of the community vehicle, including checking fuel, oil, coolant, tire pressure, and ensuring cleanliness inside and out.
  5. Report any transportation-related issues to the Life Enrichment Director or Executive Director.
  6. Provide assistance in lifting heavy items and equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
  7. Support activities in other departments when not engaged in driving duties.
  8. Participate in training programs to comply with state and federal regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions, follow directives, and accept constructive feedback. They should interact tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. The role requires effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to interact with supervisors, employees, residents, and families.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

A driving record that complies with the facility's vehicle usage policy is essential.
Licensing and Certifications

Must hold a valid driver's license with the appropriate endorsements or the ability to obtain them.

Physical Requirements

All requirements are subject to modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Candidates who pose a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others will not be considered qualified if physical requirements cannot be adjusted.

Potential workplace hazards include exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, hot water, mechanical and electrical hazards, chemicals, and gases.
