Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for executing service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers to identify opportunities to improve their operations and eliminate pain points.
  • Perform field service tasks, identify technical issues, and perform analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products.
  • Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensure that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment/process failures, request proactive corrective actions, and make recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of related engineering / technical / field experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of field engineering experience preferred.
  • Preferred technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery to include Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Breakers, Switchgear, Relays, and Transformers.
  • Experience in the repair and refurbishment of (LV) Low Voltage and (MV) Medium Voltage circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, SquareD, Multilin relays, and Switzer Relays).
  • Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of medium-voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), controls systems, and Programmable Logic controllers a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial customer base in geographical area.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70% as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
