Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Parts Assistant to join our team at Swift Transportation. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective issuance of parts and supplies to our technicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue purchase orders to approved parts suppliers in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Procure parts from the lowest cost provider to optimize inventory management.
  • Stock and issue parts to technicians and drivers as needed, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing downtime.
  • Deliver parts to designated bays and collect return parts, maintaining accurate inventory controls.
  • Review return part warranty tags to ensure accuracy and store parts for potential return to suppliers or core.
  • Charge parts to repair orders and maintain inventory records.
  • Report shortages, overages, and pricing discrepancies to the Parts Manager and Service Manager in a timely manner.
  • May be required to load and unload supplier delivery trucks using a forklift and drive, back, and park class 8 vehicles as needed to optimize shop efficiency.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in parts or inventory management is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer keyboarding skills and a valid driver's license are necessary.
  • Forklift certification is required, and the ability to lift over 50 pounds, bend, twist, and walk to and from shop bays is essential.
