**Job Summary**

As a Phlebotomist at UMC Health System, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical laboratory. Your primary responsibility will be to collect blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Prepare patient rooms for blood draws and/or lab procedures, gathering medical testing materials.
  • Assist in performing minor lab tests, including pregnancy, MONO, and other rapid testing, as needed.
  • Use standard protocol to properly identify patient information before labeling samples.
  • Adequately update patient information in our database.
  • Address STAT and timed laboratory requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Participate in teaching and training new phlebotomists.
  • Perform other assigned duties related to the medical lab.

**Requirements**

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy or medical assisting program.

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Demonstrated commitment to UMC Health System's Core Values.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including inpatient and outpatient shifts.

**Physical Demands**

This position requires standing for long periods, frequent walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Near visual acuity is also required.

**Work Environment**

This position is subject to inside environmental changes, including varying temperatures and minimal exposure to cleaning, staining, and testing chemicals.
