Caregiver Position with CHSGa

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care to patients, including personal grooming and hygiene
• Support patients with care such as oral, denture, and skin care
• Assist patients with daily care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and bathroom assistance
• Assist patients in and out of bed and into a wheelchair, using the correct transfer belt
• Take vital signs of patients, including temperature, blood pressure, and respiration, and record the information
• Assist patients to the dining area for meals and may be required to assist with feeding and documenting intake
• Assist with personal grooming, such as brushing hair, trimming fingernails and toenails, and shaving
• Turn patients intermittently if they are bedridden due to illness
• Document and report information regarding patients' health, I&O, any change in medical condition, and care given
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers as requested
• Understand and utilize care plans
• Identify the four basic food groups on a sample breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal
• Apply and release restraints and provide exercise
• Practice proper body mechanics while moving or transferring patients
• Provide range of motion exercises for patients
• Recognize and report signs/symptoms of abuse and/or change in condition
• Properly document in accordance with established guidelines

Requirements

• A high school diploma or its equivalent is preferred
• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant from the State of Georgia is required
