Position Overview
The Facilities Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of the Building Services team within the Facilities Management division at the University of North Dakota.

Key Responsibilities
This position is responsible for managing both full-time and temporary/student personnel, guiding them in essential tasks such as:

  • Cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, and furniture.
  • Window washing and furniture relocation.
  • General upkeep of equipment and recycling collection.

The Supervisor is tasked with inspecting the quality of work performed by staff to ensure compliance with established cleaning standards and evaluating their performance.

Training and Development
This role includes training new hires and providing guidance on the proper use of cleaning methods and equipment.

Operational Duties
All Facilities Management positions may require on-call availability at any time, including weekends. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing available resources and managing workload and schedules.
  • Addressing staffing shortages by reallocating tasks or stepping in as needed.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and responding promptly to work-related injuries.
  • Conducting interviews and hiring processes for new staff.
  • Maintaining accurate records of employee performance and managing leave requests.

Equipment Management
The Supervisor will oversee the procurement and inventory of necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring that all tools are in good working condition.

Compliance and Standards
It is essential to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while ensuring compliance across the team.

Continuous Improvement
Participation in ongoing improvement initiatives is expected, focusing on waste reduction and productivity enhancement.

Training and Safety
Instruct staff on safe practices for using cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring a safe working environment.

General Maintenance
Responsibilities may also include performing minor maintenance tasks, reporting issues, and assisting with event setups.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will possess:

  • A minimum of three years of custodial experience.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A valid driver's license.
