Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Gift Shop Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring guest satisfaction and delivering outstanding customer service by actively engaging with guests and anticipating their needs. This position involves managing the receipt, organization, and preparation of all incoming and outgoing shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales, restock shelves, and price merchandise in the gift shop.
  • Receive and process shipments of various products, including food, beverages, souvenirs, and decorative items for a busy retail environment.
  • Organize, label, and stock incoming products efficiently.
  • Pack and prepare outgoing shipments accurately.
  • Assist with restocking the gift shop and support cashiering duties during breaks.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, ensuring accurate payment processing for all purchases.
  • Unpack and verify incoming shipments, tagging and displaying new inventory while re-merchandising as necessary.
  • Prepare merchandise for shipping and document shipping details meticulously.
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere on the shop floor while ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Work creatively to achieve and exceed sales and profit targets.
  • Participate in monthly inventory assessments.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions and assist with special promotions or projects as required.
  • Verify the accuracy of shipments and orders received and dispatched.
  • Organize and arrange products effectively.
  • Wrap and pack orders for shipment with care.
  • Maintain a tidy work environment to comply with safety standards.
  • Adhere to established safety protocols in all tasks.
  • All candidates must be willing to obtain forklift certification.
  • Cross-training in various warehouse functions will be provided.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Further training and education are advantageous.

EXPERIENCE:

Prior experience in cash handling is essential. Candidates should have experience in a high-volume retail setting and be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

Must be able to obtain a Health Card from the relevant health authority and a responsible beverage service certification.

OTHER:

Effective communication skills with the public and team members are essential.
