About the Role

The Speech Language Pathology Assistant will provide critical support to the Speech Language Pathologist in delivering high-quality speech and language services. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working in a dynamic healthcare environment and are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of patients and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services, including screenings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Support the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, ensuring that services are delivered in accordance with state regulations and the physician's plan of care.
  • Provide bilingual translation services during screening and assessment activities, ensuring that patients and families receive accurate and timely information.
  • Document patient performance and report this information to the supervising Speech Language Pathologist, ensuring that records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices, ensuring that patients and families have access to the tools they need to communicate effectively.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Clean and maintain equipment used in the field, ensuring that it is in good working order and meets manufacturer guidelines.
  • Report any changes in patient condition or reaction to treatment to the supervising Speech Language Pathologist and alternate clinical designee, as indicated.
  • Communicate with district staff and other personnel caring for the patient to ensure that efforts are coordinated and effective in supporting the patient's plan of care.
Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of a SLPA program with an associate's degree or have a bachelor's degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.
  • Successful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent as required by state and/or contract.
  • Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice.
  • Must comply with accepted professional standards and practice.
  • One (1) year of prior professional Speech-Language Pathology Assistant experience preferred.
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
