Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Beth Israel Lahey Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing specimen collections, providing exceptional customer service, and being the face and voice of our laboratory to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and fingerstick techniques, ensuring proper identification and labeling of specimens.
  • Perform and report bleeding times according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure adequate stocking of supplies and report needs to phlebotomy leaders.
  • Transport specimens from collection sites to testing locations.
  • Participate in laboratory programs for quality assurance, competency, mandatory training, and continuing education.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registration preferred: ASCP Registered, Certificate 1 preferred: NCA Certification.
  • 0-1 years of related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications.

  • Customer Service: Ability to provide high-level customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and external customers.
Physical Nature of the Job

This is a light work position requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move throughout the hospital campus.
