Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller of Capital Assets to join our team at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of capital assets, leases, and inventory processes across all MTA agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger systems, GAAP, and asset management. You will work closely with agencies to coordinate fixed asset, lease, and inventory accounting practices and systems. Your analytical skills and ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders will be essential in this role.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the success of our organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that fixed assets are capitalized and depreciated in accordance with GAAP, GASB, and agency policies. You will also analyze and monitor financial transactions related to fixed assets, leases, and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely recording of fixed assets, leases, and inventory transactions
• Analyze and interpret financial data to inform business decisions
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders
• Provide expert guidance on accounting practices and procedures

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role is required, with demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities. Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted organization or governmental body is preferred.
