Overview

Catholic Health Initiatives, a leading healthcare provider, offers an exciting opportunity for a Perioperative Nurse Specialist to join our team at The Vintage Hospital in Northwest Houston. Our hospital provides high-quality compassionate care to the community, with advanced diagnostic and surgical expertise.

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with at least one year of RN experience to work in our PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit). As a member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to identify patient needs and prioritize care through assessment, planning, and delegation of care based on patient needs post-anesthesia.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge regarding sedation/analgesic and anesthetic agents and techniques, physiologic and physiological response to the recovering patient.
  • Assess, plan, intervene for, and evaluate the physical and physiological response to analgesia; able to plan for the risks and interventions for those risks associated with the administration of sedation, analgesia, and anesthetic agents.
  • Continuously assess patient's health and monitor symptoms, health, or pain, and take action as necessary; quickly and accurately assess patient care needs.
  • Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
  • Collaborate with other care staff to ensure smooth transition for patients throughout the facility using proper hand-off techniques.
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
  • Orient and achieve competency from all areas of the Perioperative department.
  • Maintain order, stock, and cleanliness of all areas of the department.
  • Practice safe work habits, comply with safety rules and regulations, and adhere to safety policies.
  • Utilize resources appropriately and follow facility guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Salary Range: $33.00 - $52.80 per hour.

Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required.
  • At least one year of RN experience required.
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Texas (RN:TX) required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification within 6 months.
  • Experience working in PACU preferred.
