This is an open continuous announcement to allow for current, permanent employees of the El Paso VA Health Care System to indicate interest in current (and future) Chiropractor vacancies.

Candidates will be reviewed and referred to the Selection Official as vacancies occur.

This job is open to Internal to an agency and Current federal employees of this agency.

Job Summary

The Chiropractor provides quality patient care within the Whole Health Service and in collaboration with other health care professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, & effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, & care at the end of life
  • Chiropractors are expected to demonstrate knowledge of established & evolving evidenced based practices, & the application of their knowledge to patient care & the education of others.
  • Function within their approved scope of practice as defined by the licensing board for their license.
  • Use scientific evidenced based practice & methods to investigate, evaluate, & improve patient care
  • Demonstrate interpersonal & communication skills that enable them to establish & maintain professional relationships with patients, families, & other members of the health care team
  • Demonstrate behaviors that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, & understanding & sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their patients & their profession
  • Demonstrate both an understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided, & the ability to apply this knowledge to improve optimizing health care
  • Provide telehealth services to appropriate patients, through means of Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), VA Video Connect (VVC), & other telehealth means approved by VA.
  • Complete evaluations, re-evaluations, plan of care, treatments, & discharges.
  • Document & code information for billing related to patient care in the VA's electronic health care record on a timely basis following VHA policies
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP)
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.

Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Education

Applicants must have a degree of doctor of chiropractic, or its equivalent, resulting from a course of education in chiropractic.

The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools or colleges approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Approved schools are:

  • United States schools or colleges of chiropractic listed as accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education, at, or equivalent agency, in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
Licensure or Registration

Applicants must have a current, full and unrestricted license to practice chiropractic in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

The facility Director may waive this requirement if the doctor of chiropractic is to serve in a country other than the United States and the doctor of chiropractic has licensure in that country.

Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

The work requires moderate lifting 15-44 lbs, light under 15 lbs, use of fingers, both hands required, walking 2 -3 hours, Visual requirement, both eyes required, hearing (hearing aid permitted), mental and emotional stability.
