Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at Staff Icons. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a critical role in examining and diagnosing gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for various disease processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Microscopically examine slides to identify infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant disease processes.
  • Perform daily documentation of interpretations, including the total number of slides screened and hours spent screening.
  • Maintain specimen integrity and patient identification of all samples examined.
  • Enter and report results into the laboratory information system.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient test results in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Comply with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
  • Participate in a CMS-approved proficiency-testing program annually.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical lab, physical, or biological science.
  • Meet CLIA requirements (CFR).
  • Meet ASCP requirements for Cytotechnologist (certification within one year of start date).
  • Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable.
  • Liquid-based cytology training/certification (Thin Prep and/or Surepath), preferred.
