REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist each student in developing a foundational understanding of scientific principles; to inspire students to apply scientific knowledge to real-world challenges; to nurture students' unique talents in the realm of science.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Instructs students in vocabulary and root words relevant to science.
  2. Creates and administers subject-specific assessments to evaluate student proficiency and tailor individual learning plans.
  3. Communicates with parents and guardians regarding student progress, expectations, achievements, and strategies for improvement.
  4. Evaluates student progress towards educational objectives and provides constructive feedback.
  5. Collaborates with colleagues, school staff, parents, and community resources to enhance student outcomes and meet classroom objectives.
  6. Provides counseling to students to improve academic performance, health, problem-solving skills, and address personal issues.
  7. Demonstrates and adapts instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  8. Supervises assistant teachers, student teachers, and volunteers to ensure effective classroom management and individualized support.
  9. Delivers instruction aimed at enhancing student academic success through a structured curriculum.
  10. Maintains a safe and conducive learning environment by managing student behavior.
  11. Monitors students in various educational settings to ensure safety and positive engagement.
  12. Participates in meetings and professional development to share and gather essential information.
  13. Completes various written documentation, including grades, lesson plans, and correspondence with parents and students.
  14. Reports incidents to maintain student safety and uphold a positive learning atmosphere.
  15. Responds to emergencies to address immediate safety concerns and directs issues to appropriate personnel.
  16. Addresses inquiries from a range of stakeholders to resolve issues and provide information.
  17. Supports fellow educators in implementing established curricula and individualized student plans.
  18. Engages in curriculum development and participates in faculty committees and student activity sponsorship.
  19. Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
