Medical Laboratory Specialist

The Medical Lab Technologist will be responsible for performing various duties in the laboratory, including storing and labeling specimens, preparing solutions and reagents, and operating manual and automatic equipment to conduct analytical tests. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively interact with nursing and physician staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Store and label specimens in a timely and accurate manner
• Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard laboratory formulas and procedures
• Operate manual and automatic equipment to conduct analytical tests
• Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on testing equipment
• Process samples and create reports as needed
• Communicate lab updates with nursing and physician staff
Requirements:
• High School Diploma required
• Medical Lab Technician certification through one of two ways: Associates of Science degree in Medical Technology or Bachelors of Science (BS) degree with Board Certification as an MLT
• Experience with patient contact preferred
• Previous experience with Laboratory/Hospital computer system preferred
• Previous experience as a MLT in a hospital laboratory preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
• ASCP certification preferred
• Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required
• Knowledge of program development and administration preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong PC skills required
• Strong verbal communication skills required
Work Environment:
The Medical Lab Technologist will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, requiring strong attention to detail and ability to multitask. The ideal candidate will be flexible with scheduled work hours and able to work effectively in a team environment.
