Job Summary

Clarkson University is seeking an Assistant Director to support the Honors Program in leading student and alumni programming, outreach, and record management. The successful candidate will oversee alumni relations, including speakers, workshops, and events, and spearhead non-academic programming, including transfer student support and pre-professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Administer new student recruitment efforts, including Honors Program interactions with high school students in open houses, campus visits, and other recruitment events.
Participate in Admissions meetings and coordinate Admissions efforts with the Honors Program.
Supervise recruitment efforts among continuing Clarkson students and oversee the current Clarkson Student application process.
Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director on data collection and analysis for various purposes and audiences.
Perform other related Honors Program duties as required.

Alumni Relations

Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director to design, plan, and coordinate alumni outreach.
Serve as the liaison between the Office of Alumni Relations and Philanthropy and the Honors alumni affinity groups.
Organize events during Alumni Weekend and get-togethers with regional alumni.
Co-coordinate biannual meetings of the Honors Advisory Council.
Coordinate Alumni guest speaker visits and panels.
Collaborate with the Office of Diversity & Inclusion to build and reinforce inclusive excellence throughout the program.
Implement an assessment and survey program to evaluate outcomes and best practices.

Pre-Professional Development and Student Success

Coach students through crafting individualized experiences by identifying their interests and passions and aligning their talents with their personal, academic, and professional goals.
Coordinate with Honors academic advisors to identify students who need or desire additional pre-professional development support.
Provide one-on-one support to transfer students to serve their unique needs.
Organize Professional Development workshops on topics such as preparing a resume/curriculum vitae, developing successful interviewing skills, pursuing volunteer/leadership activities, seeking co-op, internship or study abroad opportunities, applying for competitive scholarships, and preparing for the fall and spring career fairs during the academic year.
Advertise Honors Educational Experience Scholarship (HEES) funding and guide students through the application process.
Review and approve post-HEES experience reports.
Provide students with regular feedback on progress toward goals via meetings and/or email.
Write prompts for and assess reflections on mentorship and HEES funding.

Initiatives, Service & Scholarship

Assist in planning and organizing community-building activities for the Honors program, including orientation and commencement.
Oversee residence and student activities for the Summer Research Program, including management of application process and housing assignments, selection, training, and operations of the Summer Residential Advisor staff, coordination of weekly research meetings, and responding to residence hall and student problems or emergencies during Honors Summer Research.
Guide students through completing Honors Program and University requirements, including planning for Honors experiences, development and completion of Honors reporting post-experience.
Participate in University staff and advising meetings. Serve on committees related to Honors' processes as needed. Serve on university-wide committees related to individual project work and/or interest while representing Honors Program perspective and student needs.
Establish and assess measurable student learning outcomes, program goals, and objectives in assigned areas of responsibility; maintain reports, surveys, and other records of accomplishments, appropriate student learning outcomes, and departmental needs.
Compile and analyze data related to student participation and program evaluation; develop organizational work processes that facilitate attainment of established program goals and objectives.
Support Honors Programming and events outside the Department and across campus.
